Este manuscrito descreve um protocolo para determinar se a exposição ao ozônio, um critério poluente aéreo, prejudica a efferocitose alveolar do macrófago in vivo. Os macrófagos alveolares são essenciais durante a defesa do hospedeiro por fagocitizar e eliminar patógenos. Recentemente, os macrófagos alveolares têm demonstrado promover a homeostase tecidual e a resolução da inflamação através da efferocitose6,7. A eferocitose também resulta na produção de mediadores (i.e., IL-10, TGF-β, PGE2e óxido nítrico) que aumentam ainda mais o processo, resultando na resolução da inflamação9,10,11 ,12,16,18.
