Dit protocol beschrijft een procedure om de ademhaling van mitochondriën geïsoleerd van skeletspieren studie. Deze methode werd aangepast van Scorrano<em> Et al..</em> (2007). Het mitochondriale isolatie procedure vereist ongeveer 2 uur. De mitochondriale ademhaling kan worden voltooid in ongeveer 1 uur.
