Stimolazione magnetica transcranica (TMS) è un strumento non invasivo per ottenere informazioni sulla fisiologia e la funzione del sistema nervoso umano. Qui, presentiamo le nostre tecniche di TMS per studiare l'eccitabilità corticale dell'arto superiore e della muscolatura lombare.
Stimolazione magnetica transcranica (TMS) è stato in uso da oltre 20 anni 1, ed è cresciuta in modo esponenziale in popolarità negli ultimi dieci anni. Mentre l'uso di TMS ha ampliato allo studio di molti sistemi e dei processi in questo periodo, l'applicazione originale e forse uno degli usi più comuni di TMS comporta studiare la, la plasticità fisiologia e la funzione del sistema neuromuscolare umano. TMS singolo impulso applicato alla corteccia motoria eccita i neuroni piramidali transsynaptically 2 (Figura 1) e si traduce in una risposta misurabile elettromiografici che può essere utilizzato per studiare e valutare l'integrità e l'eccitabilità del tratto corticospinale negli esseri umani 3. Inoltre, i recenti progressi nella stimolazione magnetica consente ora per il partizionamento di eccitabilità corticale rispetto a 4,5 spinale. Per esempio, accoppiato impulsi TMS può essere utilizzata per valutare le proprietà facilitazione intracorticale e inibitori combinando una condizioneING stimolo ed uno stimolo test a intervalli diversi interstimulus 3,4,6-8. In questo articolo il video ci mostrerà gli aspetti metodologici e tecnici di queste tecniche. In particolare, dimostreremo singolo impulso ea due impulsi tecniche di TMS applicata al flessore radiale del carpo (FCR) muscolare così come la erettori spinali (ES) muscolatura. Il nostro laboratorio studia i muscoli FCR in quanto è di interesse per la nostra ricerca sugli effetti del polso-mano gessato sul rendimento muscolare ridotto 6,9, e studiamo i muscoli ES a causa di questi muscoli rilevanza clinica, in quanto riguarda il mal di schiena 8. Con questo detto, dobbiamo notare che TMS è stata utilizzata per studiare molti muscoli della mano, il braccio e le gambe, e dovrebbe ribadire che le nostre manifestazioni in FCR e gruppi muscolari sono solo ES selezionati esempi di TMS viene utilizzato per studiare la neuromuscolare umano sistema.
L'obiettivo generale di questo articolo è quello di fornire agli scienziati e medici un resoconto visivo dei nostri laboratori uso di stimolazione magnetica transcranica. Tuttavia, oltre a fornire una visualizzazione di questi esperimenti, sotto discutiamo questioni fondamentali da considerare quando si esegue TMS in questo modo, fornire una breve panoramica della fisiologia di risposte TMS, e anche discutere il nostro uso di TMS per quanto riguarda l'utilizzo di altri.
