La degeneración del disco intervertebral es un factor importante en el dolor de espalda y una de las principales causas de discapacidad en todo el mundo. Existen numerosos modelos animales de degeneración de los discos intervertebrales. Demostramos un modelo ovino de degeneración de disco intervertebral, utilizando una broca, que logra una lesión de disco consistente y nivel reproducible de degeneración de disco.
