Das Protokoll beschreibt eine effiziente und reproduzierbare Modellsystem zur Untersuchung Herpes-simplex-Virus Typ 1 (HSV-1) Latenz und Reaktivierung. Der Test verwendet homogene sympathischen Neuronen Kulturen und ermöglicht die molekulare Analyse der Virus-Neuron-Wechselwirkungen unter Verwendung einer Vielzahl von Anwendungen, wie RNA-Interferenz und Expression von rekombinanten Proteinen.
