Este protocolo presenta un procedimiento curativo de moxibustión en el tratamiento de pacientes con asma bronquial.
El asma bronquial es una enfermedad inflamatoria crónica de las vías respiratorias que puede provocar síntomas como sibilancias recurrentes, dificultad para respirar, opresión en el pecho o tos, como resultado del aumento de la reactividad de las vías respiratorias. Con una alta variación diurna, estos síntomas a menudo ocurren o empeoran por la noche o por la mañana. Al quemar y asar la medicina china por encima de los puntos de acupuntura humanos, la moxibustión es un tipo de tratamiento que estimula la actividad de los meridianos humanos a través de medicamentos y estimulación térmica para prevenir y tratar enfermedades. De acuerdo con el principio de diferenciación y tratamiento del síndrome de la medicina tradicional china, los puntos de acupuntura se seleccionan en las partes correspondientes, lo que tiene un efecto definitivo. Se considera una terapia característica de la medicina tradicional china para el asma bronquial. Este protocolo elabora los métodos y pasos del manejo del paciente, la preparación del material, la selección de los puntos de acupuntura, la operación y la enfermería postoperatoria para garantizar un tratamiento seguro y eficaz de la moxibustión para mejorar significativamente los síntomas clínicos y la calidad de vida de los pacientes con asma bronquial.
El protocolo que aquí se presenta demuestra el funcionamiento de la moxibustión en el tratamiento del asma bronquial en términos de manejo del paciente, preparación del material, selección del punto de acupuntura, operación y enfermería postoperatoria. El objetivo de este protocolo es controlar los síntomas de los pacientes con asma bronquial y mejorar la función pulmonar mediante moxibustión.
La acupuntura y la moxibustión son componentes importantes de la medicina tradicional china (MTC). En cuanto al asma bronquial, la acupuntura y la moxibustión han acumulado una amplia experiencia clínica en los tratamientos, y la moxibustión en particular ha mostrado ventajas únicas 1,2,3,4. Estudios modernos muestran que los efectos del mecanismo biológico de promoción del calentamiento y suplementación de la moxibustión son los siguientes: la moxibustión activa los puntos de acupuntura (inicio local), promueve el movimiento del qi y de la sangre, regula la red neuroendocrino-inmune (vía reguladora) y regula las funciones de las vísceras (respuesta del órgano efector)5,6,7.

El asma bronquial es una de las enfermedades pulmonares crónicas más comunes en el mundo, que afecta a personas de todas las edades9. En los últimos años, la prevalencia del asma bronquial en China ha aumentado cada año. La última encuesta epidemiológica mostró que la prevalencia de asma en adultos mayores de 20 años es del 4,2%10. La enfermedad conducirá a la remodelación de las vías respiratorias y a la hiperreactividad, lo que afectará gravemente a la función pulmonar de los pacientes en fase avanzada. Actualmente, los principales tratamientos clínicos para el asma bronquial son los tratamientos antiinflamatorios, antiespasmódicos y sintomáticos. Sin embargo, la alta tasa de recurrencia y la intratabilidad señalan las principales desventajas, por no hablar de la escasa eficacia farmacológica a largo plazo y la falta de un programa terapéutico ideal. En comparación con los fármacos inhalados solos, la moxibustión podría potenciar la inmunidad humoral y celular, que tienen un efecto inmunomodulador significativo durante el tratamiento11,12,13. Al quemar y asar el médico chino por encima de los puntos de acupuntura humanos, la moxibustión es un tipo de tratamiento que funciona a través de medicamentos y estimulación térmica. Tiene efectos como disipar las sensaciones de frío calentando los meridianos, promover la circulación del qi para eliminar la obstrucción del meridiano y eliminar el estancamiento para activar los meridianos. Se considera una terapia característica de la MTC para el asma bronquial14.
La inflamación de las vías respiratorias causada por el asma bronquial es una respuesta inmune en cascada que involucra varias células inmunes, citocinas y mediadores inflamatorios19. Las biopsias bronquiales de pacientes asmáticos muestran la presencia de eosinófilos, mastocitos activados e infiltración de células T basadas en células Th220.
