Deneysel inme araştırmalarında orta serebral arter tıkanma (MCAo) farklı modelleri kullanılmaktadır. Burada, serebrovasküler trombüsin spontan pıhtı lizisi veya tedavisi nedeniyle çıkarıldığı insan inmesini taklit etmeyi amaçlayan dış karotis arter (ECA) yoluyla geçici MCAo'nun deneysel bir inme modeli tanımlanmıştır.
