Double-stranded RNA geproduceerd tijdens de replicatie van RNA-virus kan worden herkend door patroon erkenning receptoren voor het opwekken van een aangeboren immuunrespons. Voor negatieve-gevoel van RNA-virussen blijft de interactie tussen de low-level dsRNA en PRRs onduidelijk. We hebben een confocale microscopie methode ontwikkeld om visualiseren Arenavirussen dsRNA en PRR in afzonderlijke cellen.
