De beperkende factor in het gebruik van de volwassen<em> Drosophila</em> Oog voor neurodegeneratie en celbiologie onderzoek is het moeilijk beeldvorming van intracellulaire processen. We beschrijven de ontleding van enkele ommatidia om een bonafide primaire neuronale cel-cultuur, die kan worden onderworpen aan medicamenteuze behandeling en geavanceerde imaging te genereren.
