Optic Nerve doorsnijding is een veel gebruikt model van de volwassen CNS verwonding. Dit model is ideaal voor het uitvoeren van een aantal experimentele manipulaties die het netvlies doel wereldwijd of direct de doelstelling van de gewonden neuronale populatie van retinale ganglioncellen.
